Cyclists love White Rock Lake, so it was a natural combination fo Tour Dallas to team up with For The Love Of The Lake as our beneficiary for 2009.

For The Love Of The Lake is an enthusiastic, energetic group of volunteers dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of White Rock Lake Park as an urban oasis.

Tour Dallas wants to support the community by selecting a new beneficiary every 2 years. This way, we can help you learn about great organizations within our community who are committed to building a healthier community. Since we started Tour Dallas in 2003, we have supported Dallas CASA, The Boy's & Girl's Clubs of Greater Dallas and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foudnation.

Everybody Benefits From Tour Dallas

Tour Dallas provides an opportunity for individuals and families to be active together. This may not seem like much, but in the battle against obesity, research has shown time and again that eating right and being active are the two principle keys to better health. By participating in Tour Dallas with your family, you are showing them that you believe in being active and staying healthy.

Bikin' Mike Keel started Tour Dallas because he wanted to encourage people to get up and get active. As the producer of Tour Dallas, Fun Bikin' Enterprises pays the $100,000+ costs associated with the event. As a native Dallasite who was heavily influenced by his grandmother, Bikin' Mike believes that he should give back to the community - so with every event he produces, Bikin' Mike gives back at least 10% of his earnings after expenses.

The Travis at Katy Trail is providing several benefits to the cycling community through Tour Dallas. First, they are sponsoring our Break Point at the Bath House Cultural Center on the shores of White Rock Lake. Second, they are promoting the Katy Trail and the Friends of the Katy Trail through their sponsorship of the Katy Trail 5k. They are also hosting a Post Tour Dallas Break Point on the Katy Trail following Tour Dallas - so that cyclists riding home from Tour Dallas have a friendly break point on the journey home.
